20 A may be too large !
There are the standard EN 60255 for relay performance test, EN 61810 for the relay safety test. I think you knew them since you are specific in relay manufacturing, right ?
EN 61558 for the switch.
Let us to think where is the fault :
The contact current is 20A, for endurance test 10000 cycle.
You stated the relay was tested at nomal temperature. What is actual test temperature ?
If the contact point is shorted after 4000 cycle, this may be the metal part of the contact point is too hot, so the metal melt and short together. If so, you need to change the material of the contact point !
