EN 60335-1 Annex B and Battery directive

From the EN 60335-1, Annex B, there is the following requirement:
The instructions for appliances incorporating a battery that contains materials which are hazardous to the environment, shall give details on how to remove the battery and shall state that:
– the battery must be removed from the appliance before it is scrapped;
– the battery is to be disposed of safely;
– the appliance must be disconnected from the supply when removing the battery.

If the household appliance such as TV has the internal battery on the PCB, does it means that the user need to open the cover of the TV and remove the battery before scrap ? This is unreasonable at all.

So, we can refer to the battery directive:
In article 12 of this directive, for those battery inside the appliance is permanenty connected to the appliance, the battery is not necessary to be removed.

So, the requirement from Annex B of 60335-1 is not required for those battery not intended to be removed by user, e,g rechargeable toothbrush.
