To determine which variable is statistically significant, a twotailed
test was conducted at a ta=0.05 or ta/2=0.025 (coefficient=0
or coefficient¹0). If the test statistic, t-stat, falls within the
rejection region (t-stat < -ta/2 or t-stat > ta/2), it can be said that
there is a 95% certainty that the coefficient is not equal to zero 95% of the time. Therefore, it can be concluded
with a reasonable confidence level that the statistical test has
provided the correct conclusion. The 95% t-stat for 60 and 120
samples is 2.00 and 1.98 respectively. The p-value, which
represents the probability that the coefficient is equal to zero, is
also calculated.
