The EU has added a new exemption to the RoHS directive on toxic substances in electronic goods and renewed one that expired in 2009. The changes appeared in the official journal on Monday following recommendations made in July.
German consultancies the Öko-Institut and Fraunhofer IZM have published their final recommendations for seven proposed exemptions from the RoHS directive on hazardous substances in electronic goods. They cover uses of lead, cadmium and mercury.
